NEW YORK (AP) – Johnny Depp, along with his ex -wife, have announced that he and legendary guitarist Jeff Beck will release an album next month that will mostly have covers.
The duo’s 13-track album is titled “18” and will be released on July 15th. They said the album was named after a creative explosion that made them feel together. “We were joking about how we felt at age 18, so it also became the title of the album,” Beck said in a statement.
The album features covers of Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs”, the Everly Brothers ballad “Let It Be Me” and Marvin Gaye’s classic “What’s Going On”. There are also versions of Dave Spiel’s “Midnight Walker” and two Beach Boys masterpiece songs, “Pet Sounds” – “Caroline, No” and “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)”.
Depp, along with longtime Hollywood Vampires rock band members Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, began recording with Beck in 2019 and Depp joined Beck’s current European tour.
