“I’d rather know you’re dead.” Stefan Burn recounts the day he came out to his mother about his homosexuality.

This Saturday, November 25, in a guest appearance on Quelle Époque, presented by Léa Salamé, the iconic presenter confided that she was a victim of homophobia in her family.

Today Stefan Bern is a happy man. But while the iconic France 2 anchor says he received a “good education” from his parents, it was not easy for him to accept his homosexuality as a child, the victim of homophobia in his family. Invited to the set of Léa Salame’s show “Quelle Époque” this Saturday, November 25, he confided that at 60 he takes on much more responsibility than at 30. And for good reasons. “One day my mother told me. “I’d rather know you’re dead than gay.” I told him. “It’s going to be hard,” he whispered in front of the host and other guests, including singer Eddie de Preto.

If he explained that he did not blame his parents for “forgiving me”, the presenter present at the debutante ball added: “They gave a very good education. […] I loved them. We also always love our executioner.” He who lost his mother very young, who died of illness at the age of 53, still fights to help the young victims of homophobia “those who are rejected” and who cannot get rid of themselves. Stefan Bern, originally from a bourgeois family, was a good student and left home at the age of 17. “We had the means to get through it, I mean intellectually. I went to study, it worked,” he continued. A chance that some don’t have.

Behind the scenes was the host’s husband Secrets of history Yori Byleres, “a great guy” and “deeply kind”. In August 2022, the couple was photographed on the cover Paris game, with their dog. For the first magazine and victory – revenge, perhaps for the man of the small screen.
