The former Spice Girl and founder of her cosmetics brand Victoria Beckham Beauty has just launched a new fragrance range. Meeting.
Madame Figaro. – What is your first olfactory memory?
Victoria Beckham. When I was a child in the 1980s, my sister and I would sit on my mother’s bed and watch her dress at dinner. I remember my mother having a wonderful dressing table with a mirror and all her perfumes lined up, including Poison by Dior and Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, and lots of Elnett hairspray. She put on makeup and got dressed. She always wore big shoulder pieces, lots of velvet, a cabbage skirt and earrings. This is my first memory related to perfume.
With each perfume you reveal a secret about your love story with David. Why did you decide to open up about this intimate aspect of your life?
I have long wanted to create perfumes for Maison Victoria Beckham. In fact, I started working on all three fragrances before I started the beauty line. From the first meeting with Jerome Epinet (perfume nose from the Victoria Beckham Beauty range, editor’s note), we talked about these personal stories, the memories they left me and the fact that I wanted them to be the basis for the creation of the perfume. It was the right time to tell these stories. These perfumes are autobiographical.

You and your husband David have already created a perfume in 2006 with the Coty group called Intimately Beckham. What’s different this time?
I created these fragrances myself, which allows me to work with an incredible nose, and the scents are a true reflection of my brand. It was exciting to work on all aspects of this launch, from shooting the campaign with Steven Klein to designing the bottle. I have loved the process and journey of creating and launching this next chapter of my brand.
When do you wear each perfume?
I definitely wear all three scents for different occasions. I would gravitate to Suite 302 for date night and during the winter months. I’ve worn Portofino a few times this summer, especially on holiday, it’s so fresh and light but still has amazing staying power. And I often wear San Ysidro during the day. In fact, I’m wearing it today.

You opened your collection in Paris. What is your relationship with this city and France?
David and I love visiting France and especially Paris, which is a very special city for me. So much so that Suite 302 is truly David’s and my love letter to Paris. This city is our haven of peace. We always went to Paris for the weekend. It is a truly magical city that is close to our hearts, more than ever when I presented my brand at Paris Fashion Week.
We are a very close family. David and my children are huge supporters of my fashion and beauty brand

What is your beauty routine?
I learned to really take care of my skin. This is my foundation. So I try to avoid heavy creams and concealers and instead really aim for my skin to look its best. For me it starts with skin care. first, I inject my face with the Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader Cell Power Rejuvenating Serum. What I like is that it’s not sticky at all, more like a potion for my skin. I have noticed such a difference since using it in the fine lines around my eyes and the size of my nose pores. Next, I apply the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream followed by the Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Primer Moisturizer, applying an extra layer of product above my cheekbones and down the center of my nose. It firms and lifts my skin to create the illusion of a highlighter.
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given?
A makeup artist I work with calls herself the “blush police.” He taught me that “less is more“For sure!
