“The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Snakes” premiered last week, featuring the story of young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), long before becoming the tyrannical president presented in the first films of the franchise created by Suzanne Collins.

In its first opening weekend, the production topped the Brazilian box office, grossing around R$9.8 million, surpassing “The Marvels”, Marvel’s most recent release, which raised R$3.6 million.

The film, which was highly anticipated by fans of the saga, ended up raising questions among a large part of the public. After all, we can expect more films from “Hunger Games”?

New movies?

As reported by the portal O Tempo, the franchise’s producers and filmmakers do not intend to make a new film without there being a new work of art. Collins about this universe and, to date, the author has no plans to release a new book.

The world of “The Hunger Games”, however, still has several loopholes that could result in new works or spin-offs. In addition to stories that explain more about the lives of some notable characters, such as Finnick and Haymitch, works that delve deeper into the history of Panem would also be interesting.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director Francis Lawrencewho directs “A Cantiga dos Pássaros e das Serpentes” and worked on “Em Chamas” and “A Esperança”, revealed that, if Suzanne came up with a new book, he would be willing to produce a new film.

“If Suzanne has another idea that she thinks fits into the world of Panem — whether it’s new people or familiar characters — I’d be interested in being a part of it,” the filmmaker revealed.
