The unprecedented records of aespa and Stray Kids were achieved with their new albums: “Drama” and “ROCK-STAR”, respectively
The week started well for aespa and Stray Kids! That’s because SM Entertainment’s girl group and JYP Entertainment’s boy group achieved impressive new Billboard records with their new albums: “Drama” and “ROCK-STAR”, respectively.
For aespa, the achievement came as the mini-album “Drama” debuted at 33rd position on the Billboard 200, becoming the fourth album to enter the charts after “Savage”, “Girls” and “MY WORLD”. This feat meant that the formation made up of Karina, Giselle, Winter It is Ningnig, became the fastest K-pop girl group in history to score four albums in the top 40 of the Billboard 200, having achieved the feat just three years after their debut. Stray Kids debuted in first place on the Top 200 Albums chart with “ROCK-STAR”, being the group’s fourth consecutive album to be released at the top of the chart, as “ODDINARY”, “MAXIDENT” and “★★★ ★★ (5 STARS)” also achieved the feat. With this, the group became the first K-pop artist to enter the Billboard 200 four consecutive times at number one.
Still, the record doesn’t end there! Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, felix, SeungminIt is IN became the fastest artists to accumulate four top spots since Taylor Swift, given that the blonde took just under 16 months to achieve the feat between August 2020 and November 2021, while Stray Kids took less than 20 months to accumulate four albums in first place.
