The young woman wore the same outfit as her mother when she sang her hit song twenty-three years ago. Comments are divided on Tik Tok. Some praised the performance, others were more furious.
Which kid is this 2000s hit? Me… LolitaWritten by Alizee, the singer marked an entire generation with her pop tunes and her lyrics that were both seductive and childlike. The singer rose to fame in 1999 with the show Graine de stars before releasing this lead single the following year. Twenty-three years later, it is now his daughter, Anne Chatelain, who sings the famous song. This Saturday, November 18, the young woman posted a video that went viral on Tik Tok, in which she sings a rendition of her mother’s hit, “My name is Lolita, angry and not, half cotton, half wool.”
The same black and white striped t-shirt, the same gray jeans and the same hairstyle, the resemblance between mother and daughter is striking. Especially since Anili is also Alize’s age at the time of the song’s release. “Hi mom,” she wrote in the caption. Many fans reacted to the publication, who were surprised to learn that Alize has an 18-year-old daughter. “Wait, wait, she’s Alize’s daughter. But how old am I? I still remember when Alize gave birth,” wrote one of the users. Other comments were more scathing, constantly making comparisons about body shape and singing ability. “Not as beautiful as the real thing”; “Cute, but not on the level of Alizee”; “Alizee is several dozen floors up,” we can read in the comments.
Annily Chatelain was born in 2005 to Alizee and Jeremy Chatelain, her first husband, who was previously a star academy candidate. In 2016, Lolita, the real-life translator of Moi…, remarried dancer Grégoire Lyonne, with whom she had a second daughter, Maggie (4 years old), born in 2019.
