Discover who is the character responsible for starting the Marvel Comics universe
The Marvel Universe has a huge number of superheroes, who have the most diverse characteristics and powers. The heroic world dominated the corners of the planet, breaking records not only in comics but also in cinemas, such as the feature film “Avengers: Endgame”, which broke more than 10 records, including the highest-grossing record in history, grossing around 2.279 billion dollars.
Despite the resounding success, many fans still wonder who was the first character created by the famous comic book publisher. What many don’t expect is that, in reality, there are two heroes who are considered the pioneers of this entire universe: the Human Torch and Namor, Sub-Mariner.
Both appeared for the first time in comics in 1939, long before the publisher was called Marvel, in 1961 — at the time, the name was Timely Comics. The two were together in the comic called Os Invasores, the first from the company Marvel Comics nº 1, until they gained their individual comics, The Human Torch and Sub-Mariner Comics, which stopped being published in 1949.
Many also consider Namor to be Marvel’s first superhero, as he was featured in Motion Pictures Funnies Weekly magazine no. 1, which was never published due to lack of funding.
After the emergence of the Marvel we know today, the two heroes also ended up being reinvented within this universe. Human Torch gained a new version and joined the Fantastic Four during the 60s, appearing for the first time in Fantastic Four comic #1. Meanwhile, Namor also underwent some changes made by Stan Lee It is Jack Kirbyand became an anti-hero, returning in the same comic as Torch.
