In his new book Haakon: Stories of the Crown Princethe crown prince finally opens up about his wife’s illness, against which he has been fighting for months.

“It makes a difference in life”

The 50-year-old former regular resident is actually being watched closely by a team of doctors as symptoms limit her abilities. After physical exertion, quickly tired “out of breath when climbing a small hill”. Although his condition should not worsen drastically, Haakon from Norway still clarified that this incurable disease cannot be cured or improved. Princess Mette-Marit is receiving treatment to slow the progression of pulmonary fibrosis, but knows she will not be cured. “You never know when those days will come. This life is different from what it used to be,” the crown prince wrote on his pages.

For example, he cites several events that have been canceled due to female fatigue, including last September’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf’s accession to the throne. “He has a lot of good days.
