With the beginning of November, the long-awaited premiere of “The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Snakes” is getting closer and closer. The new film inspired by the universe created by the author Suzanne Collins will hit theaters on November 17th, and will feature the youth of the tyrant President Snow.
The production is set 64 years before the original trilogy, and will also follow the plot of Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute from District 12 who is selected to participate in the Hunger Games and will be mentored by Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth). Remember the trailer!
In one of the previews released, it is possible to see a very clear reference to one of the franchise’s most classic moments: the song “The Hanging Tree”, which features verses composed by Collins for the third book in the saga. The film promises to tell a little more about the story behind the song, created by the character of Zegler.
Originally, Jennifer Lawrence, responsible for playing the protagonist Katniss Everdeen, is the person who sings the song. However, as revealed by the actress herself in an interview on the Late Show with David Letterman, being the performer of the song made her remember a great childhood trauma.
Second Lawrenceit all happened when she was eight years old, and she had to sing for the whole school at a Christmas party.
“I had this voice, something like Amy Winehouse [imitando a voz]. I sang in front of the whole school. My dad was laughing all week, walking around the house imitating me.”, he revealed.
Thanks to this event, Jennifer began to have great difficulty singing in public. That’s why, at the time, she said in the interview that she never saw the final version of the scene from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” in which she sings “The Hanging Tree”.
“I still haven’t heard how it turned out. I said, ‘Could you have Lorde sing the song and synchronize my scene with her voice?’. They said, ‘No, it’s going to be your voice.’ So I avoid watching the scene.”
Despite his insecurity with singing, Lawrence had a huge success with the film’s music. In 2014, the year “The Hunger Games: Hope — Part 1” was released, the track reached first place on iTunes Brazil, third place in global online stores, in addition to reaching 29th place in the ranking of best-selling songs in the world.
