The Spanish branch of Disney+ released the first teaser for Cristobal Balenciaga’s six-episode drama series about the life and work of one of the world’s most famous designers and the founder of the fashion house of the same name – Balenciaga. The video was published on YouTube.
Balenciaga is played by actor Alberto San Guan.
In the story, the designer presented his first Parisian haute couture collection in 1937. He left behind a successful career in his ateliers in Madrid and San Sebastian, dressing the Spanish elite and aristocracy.
However, Spain’s trend-setting models don’t quite work in the complex fashion empire that has become Paris, where Chanel, Dior and Givenchy are the benchmark for haute couture. Obsessed with control over every aspect of his life, Cristobal Balenciaga would define his style and ultimately become one of the most important designers of all time.
As you know, in 1917, at the age of 22, Cristobal opened his own fashion house and named it Eisa in honor of his mother. During the civil war, Cristobal went to Paris and reopened his stores in 1936, but under the name La Maison Balenciaga.
He died in 1972.
