Disney Halloween Movies Everyone Should Watch

Halloween is celebrated this Tuesday, the 31st, and if you enjoy spending that night watching films that give you butterflies in your stomach and goosebumps on the back of your neck, Recreio has brought you a list of Disney productions for you to get a little scared of.

Among those listed, we have everything from classics to the most recent and all of them are available on Disney+. Check out!

1. Halloweentown

“Halloweentown” is one of the classic Halloween films, as well as being the first in a franchise of four features. The story revolves around Aggie Cromwell (Debbie Reynolds), a friendly grandmother who always goes to visit her three grandchildren, Marnie, Sophie and Dylan, around Halloween.

Marnie discovers that she is a witch, and that this secret has been kept for a long time. If she doesn’t start using her powers before she turns 13, she will lose them forever. So, the girl follows her grandmother on a magical bus and ends up in Halloweentown, a place where Halloween is celebrated every day by magical beings.


2. Twitches: The Twin Witches

The film “Twitches: The Twin Witches” is based on the book series of the same name, which was written by HB Gilmour It is Randi Reisfeld. The film tells the story of two witch sisters who were separated from each other and their family shortly after they were born. They were adopted by different families, and only meet again when they turn 21. In addition to the reunion, they discover their magical powers and all this in time to save the place where they were born, where their biological mother still lives.


3. Haunted Mansion

Few people know, but the film “Haunted Mansion” was produced to tell the story of the ride of the same name in the Disneyland parks.

The film follows Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy), a real estate agent who travels, together with his family, to a very strange mansion. Arriving there, they discover some hideous secrets of the place, and the true intention of the invitation made by the mansion’s owner for them to visit the space. It is important to note that Disney announced that there will be a new film about the Haunted Mansion.


4. Abracadabra

One of the must-see films on any Halloween list is “Abracadabra”. The film, released in 1993, tells the story of the Sanderson sisters, Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy), who are tried in the city of Salem for practicing witchcraft and end up being executed in 1693. But before they die, they cast a spell that can bring her back from the dead. And this ends up happening 300 years later, when a teenager, without thinking, ends up bringing his sisters back.

It is worth remembering that, last year, “Abracadabra 2” was released on Disney+. The sequence shows the return of the Sanderson Sisters after 29 years since their last appearance and what their plans are to become immortal. Remember the trailer!


5. Frankenweenie

After losing his dog, Sparky, the young and brilliant Victor Frankenstein decides to use the effects of electricity, which he learned from his science teacher, Mr. Rzykruski, to resurrect his best friend. The boy is successful in his experiment, but ends up getting into a terrible mess because of it. All this happens in the movie “Frankenweenie”.
