Director Javier Gianoli returns to the carbon tax fraud that took place in 2008-2009 in a series for Canal+. Casting. Ramsay Bedia, Nils Schneider and Vincent Lyndon form a fascinating duo in this frantic race against time.
Olivier Marshall and Guillaume Niclou had already caught the carbon tax fraud in cinema (Carbon) and on Netflix (The Kings of Scam), but no matter, Javier Giannoli proves that the same subject can be infinitely rejected. Back Of money and bloodhis first series from Canal+, the director of the multi-seater“Lost illusions.” offers a new look at the biggest heist of the century, the VAT fraud on carbon emissions quotas that took place in France between 2008 and 2009.
The series follows a Belleville con artist (Ramsey Bedia, in one of his greatest roles, and David Ayala) set up with a showman (the excellent Nils Schneider, who replaced Gaspard Ulliel, who was originally cast for the role after his death). The story parallels the hunt of an obsessive investigator (the wonderful Vincent Lyndon) and his team. Of money and blood manages to tell this multi-billion euro European scam in an educational way, while taking the viewer into a frenzied race against time. The second part of the series will be broadcast in early 2024.
Of money and blood, by Javier Gianoli. Currently on Canal+.
