“Deadpool 3” is scheduled to premiere on May 3, 2024, but according to Variety (via Omelete), the date will be postponed. This is because, due to the Hollywood actors’ strike, the anti-hero’s third film has a long road ahead before it is ready, which could make it impossible to release on the scheduled date.
Thus, the magazine speculates that “Captain America: Brave New World” could occupy the date of the plot starring Ryan Reynolds, as it is more advanced in the production process. Thus, the two films would reverse the dates and arrive in cinemas on the following days:
- Deadpool 3: July 26, 2024
- Captain America: Brave New World: May 3, 2024
It is worth remembering that the news, which until now appears as a rumor, is already, in a way, expected by fans of the franchise, since in an interview with The Wrap, Shawn Levy, director of the sequel, said that only half of the film was recorded and edited.
I don’t even know if we have an official release date. I know we were going to release on May 3,” Levy said. “Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production put that release date in real jeopardy. We’ve already shot half of the film and I’ve already edited half of it. We look forward to getting back to work and releasing the film next year.”
Furthermore, the actors’ strike does not yet have an end date, which could affect the launch of other titles scheduled for next year. So much so, that The Wrap announced that, in addition to the third Deadpool film, “Captain America: Brave New World”, “Beetlejuice 2” and “Mission: Impossible 8”, the studios’ priorities will be to reach the big screen with the minimum possible delay.
