The winner of the most prestigious music award, the Grammy, broke the long-standing record of the legendary Elvis Presley. For this, the artist worked for 38 years.
Famous American singer Barry Manilow broke Elvis Presley’s record for the most appearances with his 637th concert at the Westgate Las Vegas. The Daily Mail reported this.
It took the 80-year-old star five times longer than Presley to surpass his success.
It was noted that in 1969, Elvis began a seven-year residency at the Westgate Hotel, then called the International Hotel.
He shared the stage with Manilow in front of 1,150 people for a staggering 631 concerts before his untimely death in 1977.
At the time, the King of Rock and Roll’s stay at the hotel made him one of the highest paid performers in Las Vegas history. The last performance at the hotel took place on December 12, 1976.
Manilow, for his part, first performed at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1985, booked his first official residency from 2005 to 2009, then played elsewhere before returning to the Westgate in 2018.
The artist will donate all funds raised during his performances at the final concerts to six charitable organizations.
It was previously reported that the only daughter of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley, died as a result of complications after surgery.
