Showing stroke of luck Actor-director Woody Allen’s new film took part in our “Autopromo” interview.
“Valérie Lemercier is a wonderful actress who oscillates between humor and depth.” The praise comes from Woody Allen, for whom the actress starred A stroke of luck. Opposite Melville Poupaud and Lou de Laage, she plays a loving and modern mother and mother-in-law who, with insight, will slowly suspect the true nature of her adored son-in-law.
My mood from the moment ?
Longing for fall, it’s good, it’s now.
Which made me want to play A stroke of luck ?
The role, the director and the letter attached to the script: “If this role does not suit you, I hope to have the opportunity to work with you on another film, but I am 86 years old.”
Who is Camille, my character and what I liked about her? ?
Camille is a caring and active mother. I loved his intuition, and then the way he handled the investigation, turning into Sherlock Holmes with Columbo’s raincoat.

My attitude on set ?
As actor Dominic Zardi said. “Too bad, but just in time.” However, I often declare myself that way.
Best and worst partners ?
The best are the ones who have learned their lines and who like to have fun. The worst are the ones who play by themselves without looking at you, post videos from the set, eat Camembert before kissing scenes or, worst of all, do cocaine. I pray to the Lord that it never happens all at once.
Is the best movie always the last? ?
I’d rather say it’s next.
Is it bad luck talking about myself in a promo? ?
Talking about yourself is above all a punishment to those who listen. We should ask people what they do, not what they think. Interestingly, as a newspaper reader, I’d rather know what Catherine Deneuve put on her plate for breakfast than know where her crackers come from.
A wooden tongue or too loose a tongue ?
I don’t know, I do what I can, depending on the mood of the day. I avoid the recommended number of glasses of champagne before shows to make you say stupid things.
A language element to insert ?
“Little Landerno”, “Heart on my shoulder”, “Low noise”. And elements of motion: “That I ‘called’ in my book,” “My teams,” and “The Immersive Side.”
The subject that throws me off my hinges ?
A slightly bogus way of asking yourself if you’re hesitant before starring with Woody Allen… It’s like we’re above American Justice and its two in-depth investigations that exonerated him.
Misunderstanding about me ?
I don’t wear a wig, I have big hair and I’m not pregnant, I’m just constipated.

Valerie Lemercier
What I like people to say about me ?
That I’m cool.
What do I think when I look in the mirror in the morning? ?
“I slept well, my new little cat is definitely a way to sleep well.” And secondly. “My skin hasn’t gotten much tone, is this plumping serum Rihanna recommends really that effective?”
I still have the holy fire ?
Anyway, I love my job and try to follow my dear friend’s valuable advice to stay “focused and calm”.
When was the last time I was proud of myself? ?
I confess that it has long passed with me. Yes, I was proud to sing backing vocals on Mika last November, but I can’t help but think she should have cut them since then.
What am I going to do after this interview? ?
Pet my cat a little and get back to work.
stroke of luck By Woody Allen, with Valérie Lemercier, Lou de Laagens, Melville Poupeau… Released on September 27.
