The Booker Prize 2023 has announced the nominees

The winner of the £50,000 prize will be announced at an event in Old Billingsgate, London on 26 November 2023.

The list of nominees for the Booker Prize has been announced. It includes six books by authors who have never been shortlisted before, including two debuts. This is reported on The Booker Prizes website.

It is noteworthy that none of the six authors have previously been nominated for the Man Booker Prize. In addition, for two of them the novels are debut.

“All the books on the list deal with many of the most pressing issues of 2023: climate change, immigration, financial hardship, persecution of minorities, political extremism, and the erosion of personal liberties. There are they are characters looking for peace and belonging or mourning the loss of love. There are books based on contemporary reality, shedding light on shameful episodes of history and depicting a terrible future,” said of the website.

Among the nominees: Study for Obedience (Learning Obedience), Sarah Bernstein; If I had survived you (If I live with you), Jonathan Escoffer; This Other Eden (This is another paradise), Paul Harding; Song of the Prophet (Song of the Prophet), Paul Lynch; Western Lane (western lane), Chetna Maru; The Bee Sting (bee sting), Paul Murray.

It is understood that the winner of the £50,000 prize will be announced at an event in Old Billingsgate, London, on 26 November 2023.

The judges are looking for the best piece of long prose in the English language.
