In 2023, the award will be accepted by directors Michelle Setter and Mel Brooks, actress Angela Bassett and editor Carol Littleton.
Due to strikes by actors and screenwriters, the most prestigious Oscar ceremony has been postponed. Vanity Fair reported it.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the gala, originally scheduled for November 18, 2023, has been postponed to January 9, 2024.
Since actors and screenwriters cannot participate in the filming of movies and TV series, as well as participate in any advertising campaigns until the end of the strikes, the holding of this event, which is one also union production, is certainly impossible.
It should be noted that this is the second time in the history of the award that the ceremony has been put in jeopardy. Prior to this, the Oscars had only been officially canceled once: in 2021 – due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was previously reported that Sandra Bullock is being asked to forfeit the Oscar she received for her role in the 2009 biography film The Blind Side.
