5 Batman comics you need to read on Batman Day

There are several Batman stories throughout the comics; Discover some of the most striking among them!

This Saturday, the 16th, Batman Day is celebrated, where we celebrate the entire legacy of Batman, both in classic comics and in productions such as series and films. To take part in the celebration, Recreio brought some classic comics about the DC Comics hero that you need to read on this special day. Check out:

1. Batman: Year One (1988)

Written by Frank Millerthe story of “Batman: Year One” shows Bruce Wayne’s first year as Gotham City’s hero and, chronologically, we can see more about Batman’s relationship with Commissioner James Gordon.


2. Batman: The Dark Knight — Part 1 (1987)

In part 1 of “Batman: The Dark Knight”, the heroes were extinguished, except for Superman, who works for the government and there is an increase in crime in the city, which makes Bruce Wayne, who was practically retired from his days of Hero, put your bat armor back on. This causes the Man of Steel to get behind him and the epic confrontation between the two heroes arises.


3. Batman — The Killing Joke (1988)

In “Batman — The Killing Joke” we can follow the possible origin of one of Batman’s most iconic villains, the Joker. Having one of the most surprising endings among all Batman stories, this comic shows two arcs highly acclaimed by fans: the confrontation between the bat and the clown, and the villain’s involvement with Barbara Gordon.


4. The Fall of the Bat — Bane’s Victory (1993)

All superheroes have their moments of weakness, and it would be no different with Batman. In the plot of the comic “The Fall of the Bat — Bane’s Victory”, we see how the villain Bane emerged, who turns Batman’s life into chaos after releasing the criminals from Arkham Asylum. And it’s not a spoiler, because the cover itself shows this: there is a fight between the two and Bruce Wayne ends up broken in half and is paralyzed.


5. Batman: The Long Halloween (1996)

Being one of the most controversial Batman stories, the comic “Batman: The Long Halloween” shows the moment when Batman and Commissioner Gordon team up to try to catch a new killer known as “Holiday”, who has started to kill members of Gotham City mafia families on commemorative dates and holidays.
