In 2023, directors Michele Setter and Mel Brooks, actress Angela Bassett and editor Caroll Littleton will receive the award.
Due to strikes by actors and screenwriters, the most prestigious Oscar ceremony has been postponed. Vanity Fair reported it.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the gala, originally scheduled for November 18, 2023, has been rescheduled to January 9, 2024.
Since actors and screenwriters cannot participate in the filming of movies and series, as well as participate in any advertising campaigns until the end of the strikes, this event, which also belongs to a production of the union, is certainly not possible.
It should be noted that this is the second time in the history of the award, when the ceremony was under threat. The Oscars have only been officially canceled once: in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was previously reported that Sandra Bullock is being asked to strip the Academy Award she won for her lead role in the 2009 biopic The Blind Side.
