Check Out Some Bizarre Fan Theories About The Hunger Games Franchise
Created by the author Suzanne Collinsthe books and films of the “Hunger Games” franchise were one of the biggest hits of the late 2000s and early 2010s. The plot, which featured acclaimed adaptations in theaters, accumulates a huge legion of fans to this day.
Just like every successful saga, some admirers of the story ended up developing slightly bizarre theories to answer certain questions about the plot — and RECREIO will present you 5 of them now. Check out!
1. Gale may not have survived
After Prim’s death, Gale moves to District 2 and gets “a fancy job”. Through the Goodreads platform, a fan claims that, in fact, he must have died too, probably because of the decision to Katniss to take Coin’s life. The theory does not have much evidence to be based on, however, it helps to explain the sudden disappearance of the character in both films and books.
2. Did Cinna buy Katniss?
During “The Mockingjay,” Finnick explains that “if a winner is deemed desirable, the president either gives them away as a reward or lets people buy them for an exorbitant amount of money.” Thus, a theory shared on Reddit says that Cinna would have bought Katniss so that she would not be bought by someone else.
3. The Hunger Games was inspired by the American Revolution
During the American Revolution, the Americans, who were colonized by the United Kingdom and were dissatisfied with the exploitation of the 13 colonies, decided to destroy the Georgia region as a way to demonstrate their power, before gaining the long-awaited independence. A Reddit fan believes that “The Hunger Games” may have been inspired by this historical fact, since it also has 13 “colonies”, the districts, and there is a dissatisfaction of the people with the exploitation, generating a great revolt.
4. Katniss’s life was planned
Right at the end of “Catching Fire”, Katniss discovers that she was a piece in the plan for the revolution, where she would have been guided and prepared to start this very important period in the saga. However, a fan present on Reddit went a little further, and claimed that the protagonist’s entire life had been planned by her father, who prepared everything that should happen in the girl’s life even before she was born, training her without her knowing to become a tribute.
5. The world doesn’t care about Panem
If Panem is supposedly located in North America, have you ever wondered what happened to the rest of the world? According to a theory published by a fan on Reddit, the inhabitants of other parts of the planet would have just gone about their lives normally, without caring about the horrors that happened in Panem.
