5 facts about “Only Murders in the Building”

With the start of the third season given on August 8th, “Only Murders in the Building” has had its new episodes released every Tuesday thereafter on Star+. Remember the trailer!

It is worth remembering that the series follows three friends – Mabel (Selena Gomes), Oliver (martin short) and Charlie (Steve Martin) – passionate about true crime podcasts who decide to investigate on their own the murder of a young resident of Arcônia, the building where they live.

“Only Murders in the Building” was released in 2021, and since then, the audience that most consumes and comments on the series on social media are men aged 25 to 34 years. In the second season, 77% of the comments on Instagram were theirs and 69% came from women, according to data from the exclusive Business Intelligence & Data Science survey, carried out by Star+ Brasil.

2. Only Murders in the Building, OMITB or Only Murders?

The name of the series is long, right? For this reason, fans ended up shortening the title of the series to fit their tweets and social media posts. As a result, the terms began to be used frequently, OMITB was mentioned more than 18 thousand times and Only Murders more than 17 thousand times on social networks between 2021 and 2023, according to the Star+ Brasil survey.

3. No lines but full of commentary

Titled “The Boy from Apartment 6D,” the first-season episode took audiences by surprise. With the intention of providing the viewer with the experience of a person with hearing impairment, it is made completely without speech and accompanied by subtitles, in addition to being the most commented on social networks, according to the survey carried out by the platform.

4. Critical success

Nearly 100% critical approval! Only Murders In the Building is one of the best-rated series on Rotten Tomatoes, a specialized review site. The first season was rated 100%, while the second and third received 98% and 95% approval, respectively.

5. Delivery to the character

In the episode “Turning the Game”, from the second season, 30% of the public, also according to the Star+ Brasil survey, praised the performance and delivery of the Selena Gomez by showing the insecurities, fears and thoughts of her character, Mabel, in the scene where she sees her relationship with her father and doubts about whether or not she killed Bunny.
