The new menswear director has taken over the Speedy bag, the brand’s iconic model. One of his new versions has a very high price…

Pharrell Williams created the event on June 20 in Paris. At Pont Neuf, he presented his first collection as creative director at Louis Vuitton, marked by a special attention to leather goods. So, the star of the parade and Rihanna’s campaign was undoubtedly the Speedy bag. Conceived by Louis Vuitton’s own son, the model born in 1930 has now been reinvented by Pharrell Williams with an ultra-pop palette. If she keeps her signature monogram, she wears colorful dresses, from bright reds to electric blues, greens, and oranges. But it’s certainly the yellow version that’s making the most noise right now because of its price tag of no less than a million euros.

His name, “Millionaire”, leaves no doubt about his positioning. He also recalls the career of Pharrell Williams, who in 2005 created the brand “Billionaire boys club” with Nigo, his friend and the current artistic director of Kenzo. Joke aside, the seven-figure tag is justified by exceptional materials. Designed in-house, this Speedy is trimmed in exotic crocodile leather and hand-painted with a monogram. And because every detail counts, one side of it is decorated with a diamond clasp, and the chain is solid gold, as well as the zippers and each of the fasteners that make it up. The model is already a favorite of Pharrell Williams, who made it his Fashion Week accessory, appearing in Dior, Kenzo, Junya Watanabe or Loewe fashions, showing his literal outward sign of wealth.
