During the films of the “Twilight” saga, we are introduced to the Cullens, a clan of vampires responsible for sheltering part of the main characters of the franchise. Led by Carlisle and his wife Esme, the coven also consists of their adopted children Edward, Alice and Emmett, as well as their respective boyfriends Jasper and Rosalie Hale and, in the future, Bella Swan.

Origin
It all starts thanks to Carlisle, the first to be transformed. As reflected by the ScreenRant portal, the man became a vampire while hunting supernatural beings at the behest of his father, when he ended up being attacked. By not agreeing to feed on human blood, he discovers that he could also survive on a “vegetarian” diet, eating only animal blood — a habit that would be passed on to his entire clan years later.
For a short time, Carlisle even lived with the Volturi clan, before moving to America and becoming a doctor. In the year 1918, while working in a hospital, he meets Edward, who was about to die after contracting the Spanish flu.
Seeing that traditional medicine would be unable to save him, the vampire transforms him, making him the first member of his clan. At the time, Edward’s mother had died of the same disease, so the two decided that, to protect their identities, they would pretend to be brothers who lost their family to the virus.
Years later, also while still working as a doctor in the United States, Carlisle met Esme who, like Edward, was also on the verge of death in the hospital. The woman had tried to take her own life and was in serious condition, with little chance of survival. Therefore, the immortal decided that he would do the same thing he did with his “brother”, and transformed her so that he could save her.
Esme also became a member of the new clan, however, with her arrival, some things changed in the history of the group. That’s because she and Carlisle ended up falling in love and, with that, the trio decided that, from then on, Edward would pass himself off as the couple’s son. That’s how, in fact, the Cullen family came to be.
Arrival of new members
Another member who had her life saved by Carlisle was Rosalie, the fourth to join the clan. The woman was found by the vampire in the middle of the street after being physically and sexually abused by her fiance accompanied by friends, who abandoned her to die.
By transforming her, before officially joining the coven, the leader releases her to take revenge on all those who almost killed her. After carrying out her revenge, she joins the family, but does not adopt the Cullen surname upon her request.
Shortly after joining the clan, Rosalie saves the life of a big boy who had been attacked by a bear and his life was in danger: Emmett. After being turned into a vampire so he wouldn’t die, he also joins the family and falls in love with the woman who saved him, where the two soon start a relationship.
The last members to join the coven were Alice and Jasper who, unlike the others, did not have their lives saved by one of the members, but went in search of the clan.
Alice, who always had the gift of seeing the future, was turned into a psychiatric institution by one of her caregivers who was a vampire, and needed help to protect herself from the villainous James. The woman manages to get away from the antagonist, and has a vision where she sees Jasper, going after him.
They meet while the man is fleeing from the newborn army of Maria, the woman responsible for transforming him. When they were already together, they fall in love and Alice has a new vision, where she says that the Cullen clan would welcome them, being a perfect home for the new couple.
