The Twilight saga was one of the greatest phenomena of cinema until today. The franchise, which has 5 films, was entirely based on the works of Stephenie Meyerwhere readers followed a love story between Bella, a human, and Edward, a vampire.
Being full of vampires and werewolves, if we analyze it well, there are few deaths throughout the saga. Including, because of this, the director of “Twilight”, Catherine Hardwicke, had to add a murder to the story that would go to the big screen, so as not to remain only the romance between the protagonists and captivate the public. Twilight
In the first volume of the books of Meyer, there is only one death, that of the vampire James, who was the main antagonist of this part of the saga. After fighting a brutal battle with Edward, the character ends up being killed by Emmet and Jasper.
Already in the film adaptation, who kills James is Emmet and Alice – but he is not the only one to lose his life in the plot. In the big screen version, Sully ends up being murdered by James, Laurent and Victoria, but this moment does not appear, and fans do not find out until later. This character is seen right at the beginning of the film, when he talks briefly with Charlie, Bella’s father.
New Moon
In both the book and the movie, “New Moon” is the weakest plot in terms of action. The plot features the death of two characters: the villain Laurent and an unnamed vampire. The character lived by Edi Gathegi was killed by werewolves at the end of the film, but the most shocking death was the unnamed character, who was torn to pieces by the Volturi in the first minutes of production.
Eclipse
“Eclipse” is the bloodiest film in the entire franchise. This story in the saga is the one with the most deaths, most of which are secondary characters, who are part of Victoria’s newly created army. But, in addition to these losses, the plot also features the death of the villain herself, who was after Bella from the first volume, the young vampire Bree Tanner and the vampire Riley.
And we can’t help but comment that, during the flashback to Rosalie’s past, we see the member of the Cullen clan kill her suitor and friends, which we can consider as yet another bloody scene in the film.
Breaking Dawn part 1
The first part of the final episode of the saga, “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” did not have the same level of action as its predecessor. The film has two deaths, one of which is Bella, but she ends up reviving as a vampire. The other character who ends up losing her life is Bianca, a minor character.
Breaking Dawn Part 2
When it comes to action, we can consider that “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” manages to deliver a breathtaking scene. The final film of the Twilight saga has a moment in which most of the main cast, whether on the side of the protagonists or the antagonists, die. The battle between the Cullens and their witnesses against the Volturi resulted in heavy losses.
However, this confrontation never existed, being the great twist of the story. This scene is just a vision that Alice presents to Aro, in case he decides to start the fight. The production only has two deaths in fact, which are minor characters.
The first to die was the vampire Toshiro. He was killed after being cornered by the Volturi and revealing the Cullens’ plans to defend little Renesmee, before halfway through the film. The second death happens a few minutes before Alice shows her vision to Aro.
The vampire Irina, who belonged to a clan very close to the Cullens, was responsible for denouncing Edward’s group for turning a child into an immortal being. She didn’t know the truth behind Renesmee’s origin, so, before the possible confrontation, she discovers the truth and admits that she had not checked before going to tell the Volturi, which led to her death. It was torn apart and set ablaze by Caius.
