From June 27 to July 1, Julie Gayet invites all lovers of music and art to the Rochefort Festival, which she has chaired since 2021. No jury, no awards, no competition, but concerts, professional meetings, art of conversations and predictions.
Two years ago, actress and producer Julie Gaye launched a new kind of festival dedicated to the fusion of music and character in all fields: video games, advertising, video, VR, series, animation, documentary, cinema… Driven by presence. Suzanne, Yuksek, IAM, Valérie Donzelli, Audrey Diwan and even Alex Beaupain in previous years, Sœurs Jumelles is expanding its program this year from June 27 to July 1 in Rochefort, for the general public and professionals.
Benjamin Biolay, committed to the event and its founder’s friend, Zazy, Disize and Véronique Sanson, headline the four main shows of 2023, which this year are opened by rising stars of music, including Zaho de Sagazan on June 30.
New meetings
In addition to its breadth, the originality of this celebratory event is demonstrated in its signature format, “Art Talks,” where artists come to publicly narrate behind-the-scenes work with supporting illustrations. Julie Gaye explains: “It could be a live music show, during which the composer explains at the piano how he created his score, a few minutes of dancing combined with discussion, or a few songs. This format brings real added value compared to a master class or film class; it’s not a classic interview. This year’s feature talk guests include director Kim Chapiron, who will talk about her feature films (Shaitan, Young Imam…) like his videos with Pink Noise, Katell Quillévéré, Hélier Cisterne and Amin Bouhafa, who will return to the soundtrack of the series.
