Originally from China, Lysis Houellebecq has just received her French citizenship, almost five years after marrying the 67-year-old writer.

At the age of 33, the young woman from Shanghai (China) has been sharing the life of 67-year-old Michel Houellebecq for seven years. And doesn’t care about their age difference. The pair met back in 2016 during Lysis’ studies at the Sorbonne. A major stakeholder in Paris Match said in May. “I was going to defend my master’s thesis on Michel’s work. The title was “Houellebecq, dandy against himself”. The day before the defense, I wrote him a letter in which I included a photo of me in his clothes holding a cigarette in his driveway; that is now my profile picture on instagram. He answered me immediately and offered to continue the discussion personally.
