While the French government is still considering a possible period leave for women, American brand Somedays has developed a menstrual simulator. The goal? Tell men about the ordeal some of their partners have gone through.
Every month, women go through the same old story of having to bend over in pain while still doing everyday tasks. If the symptoms vary from person to person, periods or menstruation usually always cause pain in the lower abdomen, which sometimes spreads to the back. Last May, environmentalist MPs in France introduced a bill to create a period holiday, a few months after the device was adopted in Spain.
But there is no question of establishing anything on the part of the USA at this moment. So, in order to raise public awareness and understand what women really feel during menstruation, Somedays, a pain relief brand, made a menstrual simulator that it tested at special fairs. Through several videos that have been shared on TikTok, representatives have thus forced men to try this tool, even the police, whose reactions have made the Internet laugh a lot.
Experience required
With ten levels ranging from moderate to extreme pain, the simulator claims to match the actual sensations women experience during their periods. On episodes that accumulate thousands of views, we see some men in extreme convulsions that sometimes end up on the ground. The women around them are filming, looking amused. “Every man should have this experience,” wrote Internet users on social networks. “They should try to keep it like this for 4-5 days.” “I think it’s a very good idea. Our pain is so often ignored and it is absolutely not normal,” we can still read under the videos.
Somedays was founded by two women, Cassandra Naud and Lux Perry, with the goal of breaking the taboo around menstruation. In their TikTok videos, the latter, which we see in pictures, do not hesitate to push their guinea pigs, asking them to walk, dance, talk… This is to really put their women in their place. It’s a good idea to finally change your mindset.
