During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Hemsworththe actor responsible for giving life to Thor, the God of Thunder, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that, despite not wanting to leave his character aside, he believes that he will not live the hero forever.
“I don’t want to keep doing it until the audience is exhausted… I don’t want to play it until people roll their eyes at me when I appear on screen,” Chris said. “If there’s a demand, and if there’s a way interesting and fun to approach the character, I’m willing to reinvent the character once again”.
The star also completed his speech by stating that, so far, he has no concrete information about Thor’s participation in the new MCU productions.
“I have to be careful how I answer that question. I have no idea what will happen in the next phase [da franquia]. We’re always talking about ideas for Thor, but I don’t know anything concrete yet.”
Hemsworth is responsible for giving life to the God of Thunder since 2011 and, in a conversation with GQ (via Omelete), the star stated that, even though he is interested in returning to the role if “a rich creative opportunity” arises for the character, he is currently “looking for different things to do” in his career as an actor.
His most recent appearance as the Norse God was in “Thor: Love and Thunder”, released in 2012. The synopsis available on Disney+ reads: “’Thor: Love and Thunder’ presents the God of Thunder on a journey unlike anything he has already faced: the quest for self-knowledge. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster who, to Thor’s surprise, inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, being the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the Butcher of the Gods’ vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
