starring Erza Miller, ‘The Flash’ opened this Thursday, the 15th, to start the reboot of DC’s Shared Universe in theaters. To this end, the plot adapts the comic book arc known as “Ignition Point” or “Flashpoint” to the big screen, showing the consequences of Barry Allen going back in time to prevent a family tragedy and how this will impact the DCEU.
But, in addition to the film, there are still the post-credits scenes, or rather, a single sequence after the scrolling of the list of those involved in the production, which also provide clues to the future of DC productions on the big screen – but what does it mean?
What Happens in ‘The Flash’ Post-Credits Scene?
To understand, it is necessary to remember what happens in the post-credits scene of the film. In the last frames, Barry appears alongside Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in a bar. The aquatic hero is in his human personality of Arthur Curry, but unlike his posture in other feature films, here he appears completely drunk.
Proving that the speedster’s metabolism is extremely accelerated, Barry does not get drunk, and in the dialogue between the two, he reflects on the multiverse, explaining to Aquaman that the Dark Knight is a different hero in each timeline, while the heir to the throne of Atlantis is the same in all universes.
Soon after, the two leave the bar and Arthur Curry asks Barry to go buy more drinks, while he recovers from his drinking with his face submerged in a puddle of water in the gutter. But, to pay for the beers, Aquaman gives the speedster a ring, an object that has no clear relevance exposed for the film or for future productions.
Even so, according to the GamesRadara website (via OTempo), the scene is a reminder that the temporal confusions seen during the film have no effect on the plot of Aquaman 2, because the hero is the same in all universes.
It is worth remembering that “Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom” should hit theaters later this year, on December 25, creating an even deeper connection between the two plots. This because, Jason Momoa hinted in an interview with the Associated Press (via Omelette), that in addition to the Gotham City vigilante played by ben affleck (actor already confirmed in the cast) other interpreters of the hero may appear in the sequence.
