Discover 5 curiosities about the Minions

Learn about the Minions, adorable little yellow creatures who always serve the most evil villain of the moment

First appearing in theaters in 2010 as Gru’s sidekicks in ‘My favorite evil‘, the Minions are fun little yellow creatures that have inhabited the earth for centuries and have the purpose of dedicating their existence to serving the most evil villain of the moment.

Demonstrating enormous charisma with clumsy attitudes, or even through dialogues in a totally unique language, they won the hearts of animation lovers, making them win their first solo film in June 2015.

As a result of the incredible success, these little creatures received their second feature film entitled “Minions 2: The Origin of Gru’ this Thursday, the 30th, but before getting the popcorn and following the new adventures of these characters on the big screen, check below 5 fantastic facts about the Minions:

1. From the time of dinosaurs

The Minions are as old as the dinosaurs themselves, since they appeared more than 200 million years ago, as their first solo film proves, by showing the small beings interacting with a Tyrannosaurus.

2. Great Survivors

As if existing for so long wasn’t enough, the Minions survive without oxygen, as in the feature film ‘Despicable Me’, they appear floating in space.

3. The same voice

Despite their differences, the Minions share the same voice — or rather, the same voice actor: Pierre Coffin, the creator and co-director of the ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Minions’ trilogy, who lent his vocal prowess to 899 little creatures in the titular film. Watch the dialogue!

4. How many are there?

There are thousands of them out there, but it is estimated that the approximate number is 10,400 Minions, as analyzed in the poster for the second film in the ‘Despicable Me’ trilogy.

5. No girls?

Despite being many, among the Minions there is no girl, and this choice was explained by Pierre Coffin in an interview with The Wrap in 2015. “Seeing how stupid and dumb they are often, I can’t imagine them as girls”, said the creator.
