Fiction vs. Reality: Where does Twilight take place?

Discover where Edward and Bella’s pivotal Twilight saga romance comes to life

The Twilight saga had its five films released in theaters between 2008 and 2018, presenting the relationship between the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, characters that first appeared in the books of Stephenie Meyer.

Full of mystery, intrigue — and, of course, a lot of romance, the plot is located in the small town that Bella moves to live with her father who receives the name of Forks, where she and Edward meet, get married and experience birth. of the couple’s first daughter who must be together for eternity.

The information is presented right at the beginning of the saga, but what some may not know is that in addition to being the main scenario of the story, Forks is also a place that exists in real life. This is because, the city is located in the state of Washington, in the United States, being an indigenous reservation of the Quileute people.

But, even though it is the city where part of the most memorable events of the saga happens, Forks was not the filming location, since the events located in the city were recorded in Oregon and Vancouver, instead of the state of Washington, as explained by the Screenrant portal, which speculates that the cameras were not taken to the place, because Forks it is very small and perhaps it could be difficult to juggle community life with a full-scale Hollywood production.

It is worth remembering that some locations can be visited, such as Bella’s house, which is in St. Helens, Oregon, in the United States, and is available for rent through Airbnb, so fans can recreate some of the scenes while living an ordinary day as the protagonist of the saga.

Still talking about the places that fans can see in person, but now in other locations in the United States, it is possible to mention the House of the Cullens, which can have its facade seen from afar by curious people who are in Portland, because the location is a private family residence.

There is also Forks High School, a school attended by Edward, Alice, Emmet, Jasper and Rosalie, but which has the facade of Kalama High School, located in Kalama, Washington. In addition, the baseball field where the Cullens play and star in one of the main scenes of the first film can be visited, as it is located in The Shire at the Columbia River Gorge in Washington.

More than the US, there are iconic places in the plot that can also be found in Brazilian lands: the Isle of Esme. The location that hosts the main couple’s honeymoon in “Breaking Dawn — Part 1” is not Carlisle’s property, but a house located in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, and can be rented by season.
