One of the executives of ‘Wandinha’ revealed that the Latin side of the protagonist will be more explored in the new season
One of the biggest hits on Netflix in 2022 was the series “Wandinha”, which shows the firstborn of the Addams trying to solve a mystery at her new school. The series starring Jenna Ortega already had its second season confirmed. In fact, this new wave of episodes will further explore the character’s Latin heritage.
This detail about the plot of the new season was revealed by Miles Millar, one of the creators of the series, in an interview with IndieWire. He also explained how the scriptwriters are looking for a way to highlight Wandinha’s Latin side. The executive said:
It’s so rare to find an iconic character of this stature. We really try to find ways to [destacar isso] authentically.”
Millar still continued:
What did Wandinha listen to when she was a child? Which [instrumento] Would Gomez play? Finding moments where we could really make her look like a girl who grew up in New Jersey with a Latino father.”
Still in conversation with IndieWire, Millar commented that just like him, the screenwriter Al Gough was surprised by the huge success the production had. He commented:
While we thought it was an easy thing to do, a lot of people clearly didn’t. We thought, ‘Well, maybe it’s a hit, but as an elevated CW show. But it became much, much more than that. We never anticipated the level of impact and reaction it has had.”
