To try to reduce spending, Disney will withdraw some content from Disney+ and Hulu, the company’s streamings.
Starting May 26, Disney will remove several series and programs from its streaming platform catalogues. Among Mickey Mouse’s home services that will lose some content, Disney+ and Hulu will be the most affected. It is worth remembering that, here in Brazil, the productions available on Hulu can be watched on Star+.
Disney is following in the footsteps of Warner Bros. Discovery, which also removed some titles from its streams to save money and focus on productions that would yield more profit. The change comes with the charge of a loss of US$ 1.5 billion to US$ 1.8 billion from the company.
Christine McCarthy, Disney’s CFO, announced the removal of more than 50 productions from the catalogs during a conglomerate conference call with investors. She said:
We are reviewing the content of our services to align with strategic changes to our content curation approach.”
It is not yet known whether these titles will leave the platforms here in Brazil on the same day as in the US. Check out some of the series and shows that will be removed from streaming:
