Less than a week before the release of the live-action “The Little Mermaid”, Disney released the entire soundtrack for the feature
This Friday, the 19th, Disney released the soundtrack for the live-action “The Little Mermaid”, which will debut in theaters next Thursday, the 25th. Check out the songs:
The soundtrack was made by Alan Menkenwho was responsible for creating the songs for the 1989 animation.Lin-Manuel Miranda composed the three unpublished songs of the film. please note that Menken had already revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that some original songs would have some changes in the lyrics. Among the melodies that were changed are “Poor Unfortunate Souls” (in Portuguese, “Corações Infelizes”) and “Kiss the Girls” (in Portuguese, “Kiss the Girl”).
We have some revisions in ‘Poor Ufortunate Souls’, in verses that might imply that girls shouldn’t voice their opinion — even though, in the song, Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel into giving up her voice. At the same time, in ‘Kiss the Girl,’ people became very sensitive to the idea that Prince Eric maybe forced his will on Ariel in some way,” Menken said.
“The Little Mermaid” is directed by Rob Marshall and the script is signed by jane goldman. The protagonist will be played by Halle Bailey and the cast has other big names like Melissa McCarthy, Jonah Hauer-King, Jacob Tremblay, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina It is Javier Bardem. Watch the trailer!
