Two decades after the series ended, the castOne, back, many returns with a new burst of episodes that premiered at the recent Cannes Film Festival in April. Sylvia’s translator Penelope Cruz’s sister confided Madame Figaro on this highly anticipated sequel.
In 2002, Silvia was admitted to the prestigious institution Carmen Arranz, a performing arts school in Madrid. After two decades as a school principal and ballet teacher, Silvia, played by Monica Cruz, makes a grand return to Carmen Arantz’s institution.
The actress has indeed introduced its sequelOne, back, many As part of the Cannes Film Festival, on Saturday, April 15. Miss Figaro. – How do you feel about climbing the steps of the Palais des Festivals as part of the Canneséries event?
Monica Cruz. – I am very happy to be here in Cannes. I am coming for the third time. It is a real gift to introduce our series One, two, three. A new generation during this festival. I am happy to be here with the whole team.
18 years have passed since the series One, back, many stopped. What made you want to take on the role of Sylvia?
It’s unbelievable to me becauseOne, back, many changed my life as did Sylvia’s character. That’s great because things like this usually only happen once in a lifetime, if ever. That it happens once is already incredible, so twice is great. I see this through the eyes of a little girl.
Tell us about the evolution of Sylvia’s character?Sylvia, however, has evolved a lot in 20 years. Sylvia has a lot more responsibilities for the rest of the series. She is the principal of the school and a ballet teacher. And it is an honor for me to take over from Carmen Arants. As a principal and teacher, Silvia values her students very much. I am very happy to play this character again.
“Little Family”
How was the reunion with the original cast?
with Bea (Beatriz Luengo which plays Lola, editor’s note) and Miguel Angel Muñoz (Roberto’s translator), we have kept in touch over the years. It seems that nothing has changed. We are like three brothers and sisters, a small family. It’s very easy to shoot together. We do the same stupid things as when we were young, although time passes very quickly. We are the same as 20 years ago, but during this time we had children.
With Beatrice Luengo and Miguel Angel Muñoz, we are like three siblings
Monica Cruz
What is your best shooting memory?
The whole shoot was amazing for me. But the most extraordinary was the first sequence. 20 years ago I was on tour with Lola Herrera, who plays Carmen Arantz, and I had never acted in anything else before. It was a duet scene. I told myself that I would learn from him, absorb everything like a sponge, and it turned out very well. In the rest of the series, when Carmen Arantz returns, almost 20 years later, I also star with Lola Herrera, and it’s also a duet scene. It seems that the loop is closed. I want to be like her when I grow up.
What can you tell us about these new episodes?
All I can say about this new phase is that there is a fusion between the three of us (Beatrice Luengo, Miguel Angel Muñoz, and Monica Cruz, Ed.) which is great. There are new characters with incredible talent, who are young, who dance with full force in their 20s. This amalgamation of all these new and old characters makes the series extraordinary. And I think the public will like it and will be surprised by a lot of things.
