Ewan McGregor Got ‘Really Afraid’ of Darth Vader on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Set

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ premieres on Disney+ on May 27

Darth Vader is one of the most classic villains in all of movie history, and anyone would be intimidated if they came face to face with the iconic character — even seasoned actors. And that’s exactly what happened to Ewan McGregor during the recordings of the new series of Disney+“Obi-Wan Kenobi”.

In an interview with The One Show, the actor confessed that while filming his first scene with Hayden Christensen, he was “really scared” of his fully-characterized colleague.

“He’s really terrifying. I had a moment, because obviously I’d never shared a scene with Darth Vader. On our first day together, there was a scene where he appeared behind me. When they yelled ‘action’ and I turned around. , there he was, coming towards me. I swear, I had a shock of absolute fear, real fear. I had never felt that while acting,” said Ewan.

According to the actor, using the villain’s armor again “It was surreal. It’s an amazing costume and putting it on again brought back a lot of emotions for me. It’s amazing to wear it and an honor to be back. It’s really fun, actually.”

The series’ official synopsis reads: “During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the fury of the Empire.”

Developed by the streaming platform Disney+, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” will follow the new stories experienced by the famous Jedi Master after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ (2005). with script by Joby Harold and direction of Deborah Chow, The work is scheduled to debut on the service on May 27.
