Actor who gives life to the villain revealed behind-the-scenes details of ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’
During the filming of ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’, the children in the cast were unable to get to know Peter’s true personality. Jude Law. That’s because, the actor revealed in an interview with Variety (via Omelete) that he did not abandon the persona of Captain Hook for even a second in front of the little ones.
By not getting out of character, Law further explained that the behavior of Wendy and her brothers, the lost boys, and the boy who never wants to grow old, in many of the scenes, are the child actors’ true reactions to their look.
David Lowery [diretor do filme] came up with this idea of encouraging me not to let the kids see me when I wasn’t with Hook. So I was Hook the whole time, which was an opportunity to be really scary and evil,” he said. “I was Hook the whole time. And a lot of the reactions you see in the movie are their reactions to my first look, or the character himself.”
Even so, one hour the real identity of Law was supposed to be revealed, and this happened at the end of the recordings, when, to distance the image of the villain from himself, he took an ice cream van and distributed it to all his castmates:
They met Jude at the end,” he revealed. “And I did what every adult should do to bribe children. I rented an ice cream van and drove to the location and handed out ice cream. Nothing like chocolate ice cream to convince a kid you’re okay.”
It is worth remembering that “Peter Pan and Wendy”, is the new Disney live-action that debuted directly in the Disney+ catalog last Friday, the 28th, presenting in flesh and blood the adventures lived in Neverland.
