Discover the answer to one of the main questions about the adorable little yellow bird known as Piu-Piu
He is a fluffy yellow bird who is always in the sights of Frajola, the restless black and white cat who is always looking for a fresh snack — we are talking about Tweety, a character that is part of the animation series ‘Looney Tunes’, produced by Warner Bros. between 1930 and 1969, alongside Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Road Runner, Coyote and many others.
Despite the adorable bird having been brought to life on screen over 80 years ago, as it was created in the 1940s by Bob Clampett, it is possible that one of the great doubts that permeate the existence of the character may remain in the minds of bird lovers to this day: after all, is Tweety male or female?
The question received an answer through an article published by the Legião dos Heróis portal, which found that the character’s real name reveals the solution to the great mystery, since Piu-Piu is just the nickname of Orson, the male bird that was present in the small screens for the first time in the short film ‘A Tale of Two Kitties’ released in 1942.
called from tweety bird in the original language of the drawing, Tweety appears in his first appearances, very different from how we know him now, since his design did not bring his remarkable vibrant blue look, just as he did not even have a feather on his body. He likewise appears in the shorts ‘Birdy and the Beast’ (1944) & ‘A Gruesome Twosome’ (1945).
Piu-Piu’s look changes when, in 1945, Bob Clampett, leaves Warner Bros. From then on, the animator friz freneng was able to redesign the character, providing the physical characteristics known today: yellow feathers all over the body and large and delicate light eyes.
