Passive aggressive. Although the term is often used to explain certain relational difficulties, it actually means the art of passively showing that one does not agree or that one is upset. This defensive posture can be adopted by anyone, but can be toxic when it is repeated and becomes a mode of operation. “We first used the term during World War II,” says clinical psychologist and book author Isabel Levert.
