5 best moments from BLACKPINK’s Coachella 2023 concert

Check out some of the most memorable moments from BLACKPINK’s first show as the 2023 Coachela headliner

In the early hours of last Saturday to Sunday, the BLACKPINK made history by becoming the first K-pop act to headline the Coachella music festival in the United States.

The group, which will also be the main attraction on April 22, performed in front of an in-person audience of 125,000 people, according to data released by the Indie 505 portal and reported by Koreaboo. In addition, the online broadcast of the South Korean girl group’s performance surpassed 250 million concurrent viewers, according to TechRadar, making BLACKPINK the most watched artists at Coachella.

To celebrate this historic show, and anticipate next weekend’s performance, Recreio separated some of the best moments from BLACKPINK’s performance at Coachella 2023. Check it out!

1. Drone show

Before going on stage, BLACKPINK also performed in the air with drones that formed numerous figures in the sky, anticipating the main performance of the night.

2. Chair choreography in “Pretty Savage”

In almost every song on the setlist, BLACKPINK adapted part of their choreography to present something new to the Coachella audience. In “Pretty Savage”, the b-side present in the group’s first full-album, “THE ALBUM”, the members added a new sequence where they dance with chairs, taking the public to a frenzy.

3. Soils

As with every BLACKPINK concert, solo performances by the BLACKPINK members could not be missed. The first to perform was jennie, who performed his yet-to-be-released song “You and Me.” The track has already been presented to fans during the concerts of the group’s current world tour, the “BORN PINK TOUR”, however, taking everyone by surprise, jennie incorporated a new rap into the music that had not existed before.

Right after, Jisoo took to the stage in a red, flower-filled look to perform her recent solo debut “FLOWER”, taking fans’ breath away with her impeccable visuals.

rosé was the third member to present her solo stage. The BLACKPINK main vocalist sang a snippet of “Gone”, in addition to also performing the hit “On the Ground”.

Finally, Lisa was responsible for finalizing the solo stages. The maknae performed the intro to “LALISA”, and then made the audience go wild with her hit “MONEY”.

4. Funk on “Typa Girl”?

Yes, this really happened! During “Typa Girl”, b-side of BLACKPINK’s second full-album, “BORN PINK”, we can notice a small funk remix in the part of jennie. The moment was enough to make Brazilian BLINKs go crazy on social media.

5. Emotional ending with “Forever Young”

After an impressive show, BLACKPINK ended their first appearance as the headliner of Coachella with the song “Forever Young”, one of their most successful b-sides, present in the mini-album “SQUARE UP”. Despite being a super excited track, it was possible to see the emotion of the members and fans with the performance.

EXTRA — Rosé’s message in “Tally”

In recent weeks, rosé has been attacked with a barrage of false information involving her name. Before BLACKPINK performed the song “Tally”, the main vocalist left a message saying that the song had an important message, asking all fans who knew the lyrics to sing with them. The track talks about a person who decides not to care about all the rubbish that others may say about you, living your own life the way you want.
