‘Shazam! Wrath of the Gods’ will hit streaming just 68 days after its debut in theaters
He is coming! This Wednesday, the 12th, Warner Bros. confirmed the premiere date of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, in streaming. According to the studio, DC’s latest release will arrive on Max on the platform’s launch day: May 23.
Released last month in theaters, the film follows the Shazam family facing a great divine threat formed by Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), the daughters of the God Atlas, who believe that the team of heroes does not deserve the superpowers they hold, and are ready to express all their anger in a great battle.
The production, which raised about 128 million dollars worldwide, had a lower box office than many imagined. Through Twitter, the actor Zachary Leviresponsible for playing the protagonist of the feature, blamed the marketing carried out in the film for the low audience of the production.
At the time, one of the star’s followers said that the filmmaker’s fans Zack Snyder “were happy for the failure of the film”, where Levi partially agreed, and added:
“That’s also true. Sad but true. How much this really affects the box office is anyone’s guess. But I think the biggest problem we’re having is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families don’t know of that. Which is a shame.”, said the star before deleting the tweet.
