Meet the mystery involving the parents of Donald Duck’s triplet nephews that remains in the minds of fans
After just three years of the debut of Donald Duck, one of Mickey Mouse’s best friends, Disney decided to increase the family of the most beloved duck in the world with the arrival of his three nephews, Huguinho, Zezinho and Luizinho, who made their first appearance in the 1937 in the short film “The Donald’s Nephews”.
In the production, we can see Donald reading a letter left by his sister Dumbela Pato, who asks him to take care of the triplets. As echoed by the Superinteressante portal, in a family tree released in the early 1950s by Carl Barksfamous cartoonist, animator and Disney screenwriter, Dumbela appears as Donald’s twin sister, however, in the father’s place, a bird with a question mark was placed.
Also, in another family tree made by Don RosaDisney illustrator and screenwriter, released in 1993, we can even see the illustration of a duck next to Dumbela, however, he has no name.

The story also manages to get even more confusing when we also analyze the comics, since, in a strip released in 1937, Dumbela also sends a letter to Donald asking that the duck stay with the triplets, however, he signs the correspondence as cousin, and not as a sister.

However, in a statement to the Superinteressante portal, Álvaro Moyaa specialist in comics and author of the book “O Mundo de Disney”, says that the reason behind this confusion lies in the studio’s concept of family entertainment.
“For this reason, the family ties in these stories have always distanced themselves from reality. There is almost no contact between parents and children – relationships are between nephews and uncles, or grandchildren and grandparents – and the characters never marry”.
Despite everything, even with these huge questions, the mystery about what would be the name of the father of Huguinho, Zezinho and Luizinho and who he is was never revealed by Disney.
