With the end of BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment dated for August 2023, South Korean media begins to speculate about the group’s future. This time, an exclusive Star News report states that Jennie, Rose, Lisa It is Jisoo will remain at the agency after the stipulated date, as reported by Koreaboo.
According to the report, the renewal of the group members’ contracts could become real due to BLACKPINK’s growth and the good reception of the current world tour, making the quartet want to maintain their current relationship with the company.
It is worth remembering that in January of this year, a report by the Korean newspaper Munhwa Ilbo revealed that LisaBLACKPINK member will be offered KRW 100 billion ($81 million) to leave the company. Furthermore, the text states that YG will have to offer at least 20 billion won (South Korean currency) in upfront payment per member in an attempt to renew the contract with the members, if they do not choose to change companies.
The information has not yet been commented by YG Entertainment, the agency responsible for taking care of the idols’ career.
BLACKPINK emerged in August 2016 by YG Entertainment and has as its most recent comeback the release of the second full-album of its career, “BORN PINK”. The group is currently undertaking the biggest world tour of any K-pop girl group, with 57 shows scheduled in 32 cities around the world.
