The retired optometrist who lost a lawsuit against Gwyneth Paltrow over a skiing accident said Thursday he regrets suing.
Terry Sanderson accused the actor and lifestyle mogul of crashing into him on the slopes of Utah’s luxury Deer Valley Resort in 2016. He said the alleged hit left him seriously injured and initially sought $3 million in damages, which were later. reduced to $300,000. Paltrow, for her part, said that Sanderson really impressed her.
This week, a Park City jury sided with Paltrow, who is suing Sanderson for just $1 and her attorney’s fees.
After the trial, Sanderson told reporters he was “very disappointed” by the verdict. When reporters asked him if the highly publicized litigation attempt — which included checking his medical history and ridiculing the media — was “worth it,” he had a definitive answer: “Absolutely not.”
“I was joking about dating sites, right?” Sanderson said, referring to earlier comments he made about how the process would make online dating more difficult. “It’s like being on the internet forever.”
He also dismissed a suggestion from “Extra” host Billy Bush about appearing on a reality TV show.
“I don’t need to,” Sanderson replied.
However, he praised Paltrow as “very nice” at the end of the trial as she left the courtroom and whispered: “I wish you well.”
