Disney CEO announces massive layoffs

The decision follows a multibillion-dollar cost-cutting initiative aimed at streamlining the company’s operations at a time of turmoil in the media industry.

Bob Iger, CEO of one of the world’s largest entertainment media conglomerates, Disney, said his company will begin laying off employees starting this week. CNN writes about it.

It is known that in February it was announced that the company would cut 7,000 jobs.

“The layoffs will take place in three phases. The first round will begin this week, and managers will soon notify affected employees. The second, larger round of layoffs will take place in April, where several thousand employees will be laid off. Then there will be a third round of layoffs before the summer to achieve the company’s planned goal of cutting 7,000 jobs. The hard reality of the departure of many colleagues and friends from Disney is we don’t take it for granted. We do our best to ensure that Disney can continue to deliver exceptional entertainment to audiences and guests around the world – now and into the future,” said Eiger.

Note that as of October 1, Disney employs approximately 220,000 people. About 166,000 of them work in the United States.

It will be remembered that earlier the Walt Disney film studio launched an official YouTube channel with music from their cartoons in Ukrainian dubbing.
