NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and molestation, authorities said.
The NYPD said Majors, star of the recently released films “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded around 11 a.m. to a 911 call at an apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
“The victim advised police that she was assaulted,” an NYPD spokesman said in a statement. “Officers arrested the 33-year-old man without incident. The victim suffered minor head and neck injuries and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
He was out of police custody as of Saturday night, a New York City police spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press.
A rep for Majors denied any wrongdoing by the actor.
“He did nothing wrong,” the representative said in an email to the AP on Saturday. “We can’t wait to clear his name and clear everything up.”
Majors is one of Hollywood’s fastest rising stars. After breaking through in 2019 with San Francisco’s The Last Black Man, Majors starred in Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall and last year’s Devotion. He also starred in the recent Sundance Film Festival film “Magazine Dreams,” which Searchlight Pictures will release in December.
