The American designer, who has been the artistic director of the Italian brand for a decade, is leaving his position. A look back at the career of a man passionate about bold style.

After ten years of cooperation, the Italian brand Moschino has announced the departure of its artistic director Jeremy Scott. In the press release conveying the news, the latter said. “The past ten years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination. I’m very proud of my legacy.” Appointed artistic director in 2013, the American designer quickly established his own style with the ambition to shake up traditional fashion by infusing the pop culture he loves so much.

It has been made since its debut in connection with the autumn-winter 2014-2015 collection. He proposed a consumerist look in McDonald’s colors with models wearing yellow and red suits and hats worn by fast food workers. The designer has multiplied the whimsical eyes with collection after collection, tirelessly injecting his dose of humor. And leaving the eyewitnesses of his art to draw a broad smile with each novelty.

An uncertain future

In the press release, Jeremy Scott is also praised by the chairman of the Aeffe group (owner of the brand) “for his clear and joyful vision that will forever be part of the history of Moschino”. During the epidemic, when the fashion industry stopped, the American designer presented his summer collection through a video, in which small dolls parade in the new creations of the house of Moschino. The set, imagined for the first time in life-size, was miniature with the help of famous puppeteer Jim Henson.

Jeremy Scott “wrote a seminal chapter” in Moschino’s history with his “bold”, “spectacular” style and “his sharp humour”, still hailing the Italian label.
