Stephen Colbert went into character as Eric Trump to mock his father, former President Donald Trump, for asking the crowd at a recent campaign rally if they didn’t like their kids.
“If you don’t like your kids that much or if you don’t like them at all, which is sometimes the case, don’t leave them anything,” the former president told an audience in Davenport, Iowa, on Sunday. . during a rant about eliminating property taxes. “Does anyone here like their kids?”
Colbert, as Eric Trump, responded, “Hey, daddy’s talking about me.”
“Dad, it’s me, thanks for the shout out, dad, the only thing I want you to leave me is a hug,” he continued. “Or just put me in the coffin with you.”
“A bit dark, huh? A little sad, Colbert later admitted.
The late-night host, early in his monologue, broke his vow to never use Trump again.
