In the video, the technical prowess of the Anrealage parade and its outfits that change color according to the light

With its presentation on the photochromic technique, the brand Anrealage showed all the colors to the guests of its fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday 28 February.

And it was the color. On Tuesday, February 28, the Madeleine Theater was the scene of an unusual show organized by Japanese creator Kunihiko Morinaga. Within the framework of the Paris Fashion Week, the founder of the Anrealage brand presented his autumn-winter 2023-2024 collection with a performance that wowed the crowd. Standing in front of the guests, his models, dressed in monochrome beige outfits, were scanned from head to toe using UV lamps, developed under sound. Bolero by Ravel. It was at this moment that the miracle happened. as it passed, the light revealed vivid colors and unmistakable patterns, transforming silhouettes.

Technical and viral

This is how the magic works. Lines, checkerboards, dots and other colorful colors are revealed to the applause of the public. This spectacular transformation is based on a photochromic process that uses UV rays to make colors appear. This instant paint display soon went viral on social media, sparking one of those viral fashion moments that designers have dreamed of since the Bella Hadid dress spray phenomenon by Coperni. Much like the latter, which was based on a decades-old innovation, the Anrealage show’s magic trick isn’t the first.

Photosensitive fabrics are actually the specialty of the Anrealage brand. Kunihiko Morinaga has been developing these reversible dyeing technologies for over a decade, and its performance has already shone through in the past. He collaborated with Fendi on the fall-winter 2020 menswear collection, whose patterns were also revealed on the catwalk through a series of lamps. Recently, in the fall of 2022, the Puma sports brand also used the creator’s favorite technology.

However, the parade brought out its share of the unpublished. This is the first time that photochromia has been used on materials such as artificial fur, velvet or satin. The technique is also pushing its boundaries with new hues such as yellow, red and purple. A new tour for Kunihiko Morinaga! And a new window opened on the prospects offered by tomorrow’s fashion.
