Existing for seven decades, even today there are actions seen in ‘Peter Pan’ that run away from logic; find it out!
Protagonist of his own story, Peter Pan was written byJM Barrie for a play in 1904, gained its version on the pages through the book of the same name in 1911, and became even more popular when Disney adapted the narrative of the boy who did not want to grow up for the big screen, coming on display in 1953.
The animation that features not only the boy from Neverland, but also Wendy, Tinkerbell and the villainous Captain Hook, has been around for 70 years, but even so, there are actions in the film that don’t make sense even today. Thinking about it, we list 5 facts that don’t make sense in ‘Peter Pan’. Check out!
Fact #1: Peter Pan is a good guy
In Disney animation, Peter is seen as a good guy, almost like a hero for the little ones. However, the character’s actions may show the opposite, as he took the children to Neverland without intending to bring them back home.
In addition, he did not make an effort to treat Tinkerbell well, as well as the rivalry with Captain Hook began with an attitude of Peter Pan, since he had cut off the hand of the then villain and thrown it to the crocodiles.
Fact #2: Tinkerbell deliver Peter Pan to Captain Hook
Angered by the special treatment that Peter Pan grants to Wendy, Tinker Bell ends up talking to Captain Hook and delivering the place where the boy who does not want to grow old could be found, however, the action does not make any sense.
That’s because, despite Tink convincing Captain Hook to promise that he wouldn’t use the information to harm Peter, she was already grown up, and understood very well what the villain’s intentions were with her friend.
Fact #3: The origin of Neverland
Home to Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys, as well as pirates, mermaids and other magical creatures, Neverland is one of animation’s greatest mysteries, as the fantastic island that has what it takes to entertain the protagonist of the plot, does not have any details of his origin revealed, so it is impossible to know if it is a real place or just an adventure that is in the imagination of children.
Fact #4: The Incredible Survival Skills of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, and Captain Hook
The sequence that shows Tinker Bell trying to get rid of the bomb disguised as a gift that Hook gives to Peter Pan has no logic, since the bomb detonates while still in the fairy’s hands, in addition to which, the distance of the explosion was not enough to save the Peter Pan’s life, making their survival a mere convenience of the script, or a great magical action that cannot be explained.
Apart from them, Captain Hook’s life makes no sense, since the villain is always one step away from death, either because of the times he is swallowed by Tic-Tac, or by Peter’s sword strikes, or even, by the disastrous actions of the Mr. Smee.
Fact #5: Mr. Darling forget Peter Pan
Imagine traveling to a magical world, would you be able to forget all the adventures and creatures you’ve seen? Well, Wendy never forgets, as can be seen in the sequence where she appears as an adult remembering what she lived in Neverland, but unlike her, the film implies that Mr. Darling met Peter Pan when he was younger, but doesn’t seem to remember any of it.
The moment can be noticed right at the end of the film, when Wendy and her brothers tell their father what they lived in Neverland, and they see a ship among the clouds, which Mr. Darling says he feels like he’s seen it before.
